Collectibal coins from internet - Got it

Just received this morning. Two packages, one from Poland and the one from Slovenija. After 8 days of waiting, so happen they came together and by coincident I just walked by when the postman delivered them.  Just on time to sign the registered parcel without the hustle and bustle to go central post office.

Previously, I asked 先輩 Lisa and Honson, what would they buy for gold & silver. I have the same question for myself. Bars or Coins??  Obviously, there is no clear answer. As you look at these coins, definitely Bars and Coins are two different things, just like apple and orange. They have something in common and different.  Strange enough, as a 香港人, I have not much interest in those Britannia and Chinese coins.

Bars are more for investment but they are pretty too e.g. RCM 100, Lee Cheong 5 tael 9999.  I am also waiting for the cute and nice Perth Mint 2.5 oz bar.

Although numismatic coins have potential for value with time, I don't think I will sell them for money and so I only keep one coin each only, unless they are common circulating ones e.g Maple.

Thanks to Ken, without his advice, I won't get these 8 interesting coins.  I struggled a while before I committed to get the Sagrada Familia which proved I've made a good decision.   Hope Ken will have the chance to see this blog.

Thanks to 旺旺 and Honson, the first visitors of my blog. Hope you will find these coins interesting.

Please check mail, I have sent you the website.

I bought the eight 1 oz coins, provided by Kent. Very good service and handcraft packing. Although it is primitive, it shows the seller's enthusiasm. Coins are not proof quality.

I bought the 2 oz coin with amber from ebay and the seller still got stock of the same coin. Although it was called "Proof", no box is provided. Coin's quality is perfect.

  7. Temple of the Sagrada Familia
Sagrada Familia or the Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia was begun in 1882 by public subscription. A year later Gaudí became director of the project, a post he would hold for more than 40 years until his death in 1926. After the completion of ParcGüell in 1911, he vowed that his architecture would not be devoted to secular aims. His commitment to this project is indicated as well by the fact that he lived in a studio on the site. "He was assisted by architects Berenguer, Rubió, Jujol, Canaleta and Ràfols, and in the last stage, by Sugrañes and Quintana; these last continued with the work after his death in 1926, until the towers of the Nativity facade were completed. After the Civil War, progress continued under Quintana, Puig i Boada and Bonet Garí, with the help of Bergós, Martinell and Dapena. In most recent decades, it has been Cardoner and Bonet Armengol assisted by architects Margarit, Buixadé and Gómez".
Work continued on the church based on Gaudí's general plan and studies. Unlike many churches, it survived during the Spanish Civil War, when many churches were burned; it was and is seen as a kind of symbol for the city of Barcelona. Although it is not the cathedral of Barcelona (which dates from the 13th century), it is sometimes called Barcelona's third cathedral. It is still unfinished today (note the cranes and scaffolding in various photographs below) and it is anybody's guess when it will be completed. It is a combination of Modernista elements and a unique version of the Gothic style--seen primarily in its height, use of rose windows and arches, triple portals, and architectural sculpture.

  8. Issued by Republic of Palau limited edition of just 2.500 pieces in the world, this coin is second in series of Mineral Art which will show various mineral stones used in art and architecture!
Precisely struck from a massive 2oz of .999 fine antiqued silver, the designs found on this majestic, imposing 50mm coin are defined by incredible detail. The reverse is graced with a stunning depiction of Sagrada Familia’s interior, which, like much of renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi’s work, tells of the life of Jesus and the history of the faith. The obverse is distinguished by a superb portrayal of the 18 bell towers that adorn the exterior of the picturesque church. The perfect finishing touch to a bonafide masterpiece of modern minting, each official legal tender $10 coin incorporates a genuine, vividly coloured Amber pane. With no two Amber panes the same, each coin is a truly unique work of art.

  10. What tricks you played to make all the coins stand upright ?
    I tried Blu-Tack before but that didn’t work. :(
Never thought of arranging them in array. Nice.
